Hulu has given a series order to Chad Powers, a comedy based on an Eli Manning sketch that aired on ESPN+.

Glen Powell will star in the series that follows a popular quarterback whose college career ends after bad behavior. He then disguises himself as the talented and likable Chad Powers, who ends up on a struggling Southern football team.

Co-creators and executive producers are Powell and Michael Waldron, who also wrote the pilot. The series comes from 20th Television and will stream on Hulu.

“We’re both diehard college football fans,” said Powell (pictured right) and Waldron (pictured left) in a joint statement. “When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew that was the way into a big, fun story about this world. We’re excited to be part of this team, and can’t wait to get Chad in the game. Think fast, run fast.”

Powell also starred in Fox's Scream Queens, provided the voice of Dave in Netflix's animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and had guest roles in CBS's CSI: Miami, ABC Family's The Lying Game and CBS's NCIS series, among others.

Former NFL quarterback Manning's sketch was produced by NFL Films and Omaha Productions and aired as part of the Eli's Places series. You can watch a fragment of this at the bottom of this news item.

Manning is executive producer along with Peyton Manning of Omaha Productions, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown and ESPN. Waldron and Adam Fasullo produce for Anomaly Pictures while Powell executive produces under his production co-banner Brainstorm.

“The love for Chad Powers has surprised me in spectacular ways,” said Manning in a statement. “I played 16 years in the NFL, but now when I’m in a restaurant or walking through an airport, it’s not uncommon for fans to scream, ‘Hey Chad!’ I’m so excited to team up with my friends Glen Powell, Michael Waldron and Omaha Productions to continue to tell the Chad Powers story and see what he does next.”
