Netflix releases the first trailer for the fantasy drama series Kaos.

"Honor me. That's a command, not a request." So says Jeff Goldblum's Zeus in the first trailer for Kaos, Netflix's upcoming six-part series from creator Charlie Covell.

The series is described as a daring, darkly comic, contemporary take on Greek mythology: exploring love, power and life in the underworld.

According to the synopsis, Goldblum's Zeus is “king of the Gods, ruler of the world. He is cruel, stylish, and all-powerful. That is, until he isn't.

Zeus has long enjoyed his status as king of the gods and his rule has never really been threatened. Until one morning he wakes up and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. He believes this is the harbinger of an ancient prophecy that predicts his downfall and his neurosis begins: Zeus becomes convinced that his doom is near. As his paranoia spreads, the God of Gods - who sees signs everywhere - begins to dangerously destroy himself.

And he is right to be concerned. Zeus' former friend and now prisoner, Prometheus, plots to overthrow him. The plan involves three different people, completely unaware of their cosmic significance or the role they must play to save the world. No pressure. (A little busy)."

The cast also includes David Thewlis as Hades, Janet McTeer as Hera, Cliff Curtis as Poseidon, Nabhaan Rizwan as Dionysus, Killian Scott as Orpheus, Aurora Perrineau as Riddy, Misia Butler as Caneus, Leila Farzad as Ari, Rakie Ayola as Persephone and Stanley Townsend as Minos. Billie Piper and Suzy Eddie Izzard join in cameo roles.

Covell is the creator, writer and executive producer. Jane Featherstone, Chris Fry, Katie Carpenter, Georgi Banks-Davies, Charlie Covell, Nina Lederman, Tanya Seghatchian and John Woodward also produce. Harry Munday acts as producer.

Georgi Banks-Davies and Runyararo Mapfumo direct. Georgia Christou signs for episode six.
