Hulu has chosen not to renew the murder mystery series Death and Other Details for a second season.

The news isn't really surprising; the visually stylish series starring Mandy Patinkin and Violett Beane had a fairly uneventful run and was unable to break into Nielsen's weekly Top 10 streaming ratings.

Written by Mike Weiss and Heidi Cole McAdams, the first season of Death and Other Details stars Patinkin as the world's greatest detective Rufus Cotesworth and Beane as his protege Imogene. Together they try to solve a murder on a luxury ocean liner full of the rich and powerful while sailing the Mediterranean. Their search for the truth pits them against a powerful enemy, Victor Sams.

The first season finale saw the main mystery solved and Sams put on trial after the villain's identity was revealed. But in the closing seconds, a new case and new lead detectives were set up, with Imogene and her team of fellow amateur sleuths, Leila (Pardis Saremi), Teddy (Angela Zhou) and Jules (Hugo Diego Garcia) stumbling upon severed legs taken out while skiing. fell into an elevator. The finale also ended just as Victor Sam's newest recruit, Anna (Lauren Patten), was about to receive her orders from the arrested boss's henchmen.

Weiss and Cole McAdams, who served as co-showrunners, produced alongside Marc Webb, who directed the pilot, and Mark Martin for Black Lamb. ABC Signature was the studio.
