Ahead of the premiere of the animated series Universal Basic Guys on Fox, the network has given an early renewal for season two.

Universal Basic Guys from creators Adam and Craig Malamut follows brothers Mark and Hank Hoagies, who lose their jobs to automation and receive $3k a month in a new basic income program. Now they use their free time and free money to find purpose in a world where they are no longer needed.

The first season will premiere in the 2024-25 season.

Universal Basic Guys was picked up by the network in late 2022. The series joins other Fox animated comedy series including Jon Hamm-led Grimsburg, Dan Harmon's Krapopolis and long-running titles The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob's Burgers. The series is co-produced by Fox Entertainment through its animation studio Bento Box Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television.

“We are incredibly proud of Adam and Craig and their work on Universal Basic Guys. We couldn’t be happier that their show has already received a Season 2 pick-up from our fantastic partners at Fox. It is a testament to Adam and Craig’s talent – their accessible but unique comedic sensibilities are evident on screen, all the way down to the Philly specificities, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience this ‘woodershed’ moment,” Katherine Pope, President, Sony Pictures Television Studios said in a statement.

Universal Basic Guys is produced by brothers Adam and Craig Malamut alongside season one showrunner Dan Lagana. Rob Rosell is the showrunner for season two.
