Terminator Zero is coming to Netflix this summer. The streaming service has announced the premiere date of the new anime series.



Terminator Zero is based on the popular Terminator film franchise. Eight episodes were produced for Mattson Tomlin's anime series.



Netflix revealed more about the series in the press release below:

Today, Netflix released the first footage of Terminator Zero, premiering worldwide on August 29, 2024.

The anime comes from the Japanese animation studio Production IG. The eight-episode series is part of the Terminator universe, but revolves around new characters. It will be the very first animated version of the franchise.

The story:

2022: A future war has been raging for decades between the few human survivors and an endless army of machines. 1997: The AI ​​known as Skynet gains self-awareness and begins its war against humanity.

Caught between the future and this past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who is working to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet's impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he is hunted by a ruthless killer from the future who changes the fates of his three children forever.”
