Star Trek: Prodigy has been given a start date for its second season.

Produced for younger viewers, the animated series features the voices of Brett Gray, Ella Purnell, Jason Mantzoukas, Angus Imrie, Rylee Alazraqui, Dee Bradley Baker, Jimmi Simpson, John Noble and Kate Mulgrew.

The story follows a group of young aliens after they commandeer an abandoned ship, the USS Protostar, and travel through space, bound for the Alpha Quadrant. They are led by a hologram of Captain Kathryn Janeway (Mulgrew) from Star Trek: Voyager.

Netflix has announced that new episodes of the animated science fiction series will debut on Monday, July 1. According to What's On Netflix, the season consists of twenty episodes, but it is unknown whether Netflix will split the season into two parts.

The Star Trek: Prodigy series initially aired on Paramount+, but the streaming service canceled the series while season two was being produced. In October 2023, Netflix picked up the rights to broadcast both seasons.

In season two, the young aliens continue their journey to join Starfleet. Along the way, they are called to join the real Admiral Kathryn Janeway aboard the USS Voyager-A. Their mission is to find the original crew of the Protostar.

Netflix and the series' writers announced the launch of the second season via social media.
