Gibson takes over the role of the titular serial killer (in his younger years) made famous by Michael C. Hall on Showtime's Dexter.
While production has kicked off in Miami with Clyde Phillips at the helm, James Martinez, Christina Milian and Alex Shimizu (pictured, left to right) have joined the series to portray younger versions of original characters.
Martinez plays Angel Batista (originally played by David Zayas), an up-and-coming homicide detective who leads with his heart, Milian plays Maria LaGuerta (original: Luna Lauren Velez), Miami Metro's first female homicide detective, and Shimizu plays Vince Masuka (original: C.S. Lee), a forensic analyst who likes to share his expertise and boss his new intern, Dexter Morgan.
Reno Wilson (pictured, far right) also joins the cast as a new character, Bobby Watt, the longtime partner and confidant of Dexter's adopted father, who is played by Christian Slater in Dexter: Original Sin.
The 10-part original drama series from Paramount+ in association with Showtime follows Dexter (Gibson) in 1991 Miami, a student in training to become a serial killer.
When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, Dexter finds comfort and understanding in Harry. As his only confidante, he teaches Dexter a code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to die - all while avoiding being caught by the police. This presents a special challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensic internship with the Miami Metro Police Department.
Molly Brown plays the role of a young Debra Morgan (original: Jennifer Carpenter), Dexter's sister.
Dexter: Original Sin is produced by Clyde Phillips and produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios. Scott Reynolds also serves as executive producer alongside Michael C. Hall, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns and Robert Lloyd Lewis. Michael Lehmann serves as executive director.
Martinez appeared in Hulu's Love, Victor and Paramount+'s Wolf Pack. His past roles include Netflix's House of Cards (2013) and One Day at a Time (2017), CBS All Access's Tell Me a Story (2018), USA Network's Queen of the South and NBC's Aquarius.
Milian's previous series roles include YouTube Red/Starz's Step Up: High Water, Netflix's Soundtrack, Crackle's The Oath, Family Guy and Fox's Grandfathered, to name a few.
Shimizu is best known for his recurring role on the NBC series The Blacklist and will appear in Taika Waititi's upcoming series Interior Chinatown. Other well-known series roles are in AMC's The Terror; and S.W.A.T. (2017) and Person of Interest from CBS.
Wilson made his television debut on NBC's The Cosby Show and has since starred in a variety of television series, including NBC's Good Girls, CBS' Mike & Molly, Paramount+'s Fatal Attraction miniseries, and Peacock's Bel-Air.
