The new Dutch Netflix series Amsterdam Empire has cast new actors opposite Famke Janssen.



Elise Schaap and Jacob Derwig can be seen in the Dutch Netflix series Amsterdam Empire. It was previously announced that Famke Janssen will play the leading role in the series. It will be her first Dutch role.

Jade Olieberg, Jesse Mensah, Yannick van de Velde, Romana Vrede, Victor Löw, Raymond Thiry and Chris Nietvelt, among others, have also been added to the cast.



Amsterdam Empire is about Jack van Doorn (Derwig, photo right), a rich and infamous founder of a coffee shop empire. When his affair with a journalist (Schaap, photo left) comes out, his betrayed wife Betty (Janssen) wants to take everything from him.

The series was written and created by Nico Moolenaar, Piet Matthys and Bart Uytdenhouwen. They were also responsible for the series Undercover and Ferry: De Serie.

“I'm really looking forward to playing the role of Jack,” says Derwig. "I'm thrilled to be working with Famke Janssen, Elise Schaap and the rest of the creative team. We've only just started production, but it's already a fantastic experience."

Derwig previously played the role of Marius Milner for three seasons in the successful BNNVara series KLEM, a role he also reprized in the subsequent, concluding film from 2023. He had other roles in BuZa by BNNVara, Penoza by KRO-NCRV and Red Light from BNNVara/VTM.

Schaap is known as Danielle Bouman from VRT/Netflix's Undercover, a role she also played in Ferry: De Serie and the prequel film Ferry from 2021. Schaap also played roles in, among others, I.M. from AVROTROS, Soof: A New Beginning from Videoland and various characters in De TV Kantine from RTL4.

Amsterdam Empire is expected to appear on Netflix in September next year.
