Guy Ritchie's series Young Sherlock has cast the genius's parents.

Sherlock's father Silas is played by Joseph Fiennes (pictured below, left), while Natascha McElhone (pictured below, right) is Sherlock's mother Cordelia. Fiennes joins his real-life cousin Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who plays the lead role.

Sherlock's father is a scientist, explorer and self-employed businessman, while his mother is described as a devoted mother, artist and matriarch of the Holmes clan.

Inspired by Andy Lane's critically acclaimed book series, the series on Prime Video follows the nineteen-year-old, disgraced, raw, unfiltered and unformed genius as he becomes entangled in a murder mystery at Oxford University that threatens his freedom.

Sherlock dives into his very first case with a wild lack of discipline and manages to unravel a global conspiracy that will change his life forever. Ritchie directs and executive produces the eight-part series, which will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Fiennes also helms Dear England, the BBC television version of the play about the England football team in which he plays manager Gareth Southgate. Fiennes played the role of Commander Fred Waterford in Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale and appeared in American Horror Story: Asylum.

McElhone can be seen as Dr. Catherine Halsey in Paramount+'s science fiction series Halo and has starred in BritBox's Hotel Portofino, Netflix's The Crown and ABC/Netflix's Designated Survivor.

Simon Kelton, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Maxwell, Dhana Gilbert, Colin Wilson and Marc Resteghini also direct. Harriet Creelman is co-executive producer.

Kelton originally conceived the project with Atkinson and then teamed up with Motive Pictures, Gilbert and Resteghini, who developed the series and brought it to Amazon MGM Studios. Gilbert and Resteghini have overall deals with Amazon MGM Studios.
