Stranger Things season five is halfway through production, but there's still time on Vecna's creepy clock before the final season begins.

Ross Duffer, who has been keeping his Instagram followers updated on the progress of season five filming, posted a photo of the cast and crew with the caption, "Week 24. Happy halfway done for the best cast and crew ever."

The next slide in the post showed Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, dropping the marble into the jar marking the completion of the week.

The final installment of the Netflix series halted production during the WGA and SAG strikes in 2023. Season four arrived in 2022, split into two parts, which arrived in May and July respectively.

In late 2023, following the resolution of both strikes, the series reported that it planned to begin its final season in January 2024. Season five started production on January 8.

Maya Hawke, who plays Robin on the series, recently gave an update on the production of Podcrushed and joked that the series is a bit cursed.

“Our showrunners, Matt and Ross, take a lot of responsibility. They have an amazing team of writers, but they’re very involved,” she told hosts Penn Badgley, Nava Kavelin and Sophie Ansari. “They write a lot and they are very intense and serious about the quality of the continued writing, and it takes a long time to write each season, and it takes a long time to shoot them.”

Hawke joined the series in season three. Her character worked with the beloved Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) at Scoops Ahoy in the Starcourt Mall.

She continued, “We’re making, basically, eight movies. The episodes are very long.”

The Duffer Brothers said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that the episodes would be shorter compared to those in season four.

According to the actress, it will take about a year to shoot the final season of the series, which will consist of eight episodes. The science fiction series was renewed for its fifth and final season in February 2022.
