The Netflix drama is set to produce eight episodes. Mae previously created and starred in Feel Good, a romantic comedy series based on her life.
Martin, Toni Collette, Sarah Gadon, Sydney Topliffe, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Brandon Jay McLaren, Patrick J. Adams, Joshua Close and Patrick Gallagher star in the limited series, which Netflix unveiled in June.
The following was revealed about the series:
"Wayward is a thriller series set in an idyllic yet sinister town that explores the treacherous underbelly of the 'troubled teen industry' and the eternal battle between one generation and the next."
Martin had this to say about the series:
"We're deep into the bizarre world of Wayward and I'm so excited to show everyone what we've created - what a cast! I hope this series awakens the rebellious teens in all of us. And let's just acknowledge that my hair is now a few shades darker than it used to be, which shows that I'm now a serious actor."
The premiere date for Wayward will be announced at a later date.
