The spinoff of The Librarians (2014) was set to premiere on The CW on Thursday, October 24, but has been postponed indefinitely.
The news follows The CW's announcement that its new unscripted series The Wranglers, which follows the personal and professional lives of young employees at the Circle Bar Dude Ranch in Montana, will premiere in The Librarians: The Next Chapter's Thursday time slot at 9 p.m., beginning October 24.
From writer and executive producer Dean Devlin, The Librarians: The Next Chapter is a spin-off of the original television series The Librarians (2014), which followed the adventures of the keepers of a magical repository of the world's most powerful and dangerous supernatural artifacts.
The new series centers on a 'Librarian' (Callum McGowan) from the past who has traveled to the present and is now trapped there. When he returns to his castle, now a museum, he accidentally unleashes magic across the continent. He gets a new team to help him clean up the mess he’s made, forming a new team of Librarians.
The Librarians: The Next Chapter stars Callum McGowan, Jessica Green, Olivia Morris, Bluey Robinson, and Caroline Loncq, along with guest star Christian Kane, who reprises his role as Jacob Stone in the spin-off series.
Devlin serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson of Electric Entertainment. Noah Wyle also serves as executive producer. Mark Franco of Electric Entertainment and Jonathan English of Balkanic Media also produce.
