Downforce follows Victoria (Hewson, pictured left), the estranged daughter of legendary racing team owner Sir Trevor (Bartlett, pictured right), as she returns to the family business. The pair must find common ground or risk destroying the team's legacy.
Sir Trevor is described as the founder and owner of the team. Victoria is a shrewd and ruthless investment banker who finds her way back to headquarters. She knows business, he knows racing, and together they have to solve the racing business again after years apart.
Alec Berg will direct and executive produce the pilot alongside Adam Countee, both of whom have overall deals at ABC Signature. Executive producers are Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey for Temple Hill, Daniel Ricciardo, Amy Solomon and Lionsgate.
Hewson stars opposite Nicole Kidman and Dakota Fanning in The Perfect Couple, Susanne Bier's limited series for Netflix. She will also soon be seen again in the second season of Apple TV+'s dark comedy series Bad Sisters, from creator Sharon Horgan. Previous television roles include Cinemax's The Knick and Netflix's miniseries Behind Her Eyes.
Murray stars opposite Nicole Kidman in Hulu's second season of Nine Perfect Strangers and was previously seen in HBO's The White Lotus. He was nominated for a 2023 Emmy Award for Outstanding Male Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Frank in HBO's The Last of Us. At the same time, he was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited/Anthology Series or Television Film as Nick De Noia in Hulu's series Welcome to Chippendales.
