Netflix has announced that it is renewing Emily in Paris for a fifth season, following the return of season 4 on September 12.

In season 4 – which was split into two parts, with part 1 debuting on August 12 – Emily (Lily Collins) begins a romance with a handsome Italian fashion director and then moves to Italy to open an office in Rome for Agence Grateau.

The season 5 announcement included a teaser of Emily sitting on the rooftop terrace in Rome as she sipped an espresso and said with a wink, "There's no place like Rome."

Show creator Darren Star confirmed last week that the Rome connection will continue in season 5.

“She didn’t change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome. She is working in Rome sometimes. Sylvie’s company has an office in Rome. Emily’s getting that on its feet,” he said in a Q&A about Season 4B. “I don’t necessarily think that it means a permanent — in my mind, it’s definitely not a permanent — move to Rome. We’re not leaving Paris.”

About the upcoming season 5, Collins said she's looking forward to seeing what happens between her character and her fashion exec love interest, Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini.

“Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she said. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”
