It may have been R.L.'s 82nd birthday last week. Stine, but the fans of Goosebumps (2023) are in for a big surprise.



Disney+ and Hulu have shared the first teaser for season two of the anthology series based on Stine's books, launching on Friday, January 10, titled Goosebumps (2023): The Vanishing and featuring a first look at new lead actor David Schwimmer.



“They seem to join with a host,” says Schwimmer in a voiceover as his face appears onscreen, framed in a splashing black liquid. “It’s for the greater good.”

Goosebumps (2023): The Vanishing follows twins Cece (Jayden Bartels) and Devin Brewer (Sam McCarthy) as they spend the summer in Gravesend, Brooklyn with their divorced father (Schwimmer). A threat emanates and they soon realize there are dark secrets among them, setting off a series of events that unravel a deep mystery. As they delve into the unknown, Cece, Devin and their friends become entangled in the chilling story of four teenagers who mysteriously disappeared in 1994.

In this eight-part season, Schwimmer plays Anthony Brewer, a former botany professor who has immersed himself in science and mystery. Ana Ortiz, Elijah M. Cooper, Galilea La Salvia, Francesca Noel and Stony Blyden also star.

Fans of Stine's popular book series will recognize elements from Stay Out of the Basement, The Haunted Car, Monster Blood, The Girl Who Cried Monster, The Ghost Next Door and Welcome to Camp Nightmare, all of which served as inspiration for the second season.

Developed by Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman, the showrunner is Hilary Winston. They are executive producers along with Neal H. Moritz, Scholastic Entertainment's Iole Lucchese and Caitlin Friedman, Pavun Shetty, Conor Welch, Erin O'Malley, Karl Frankenfield and James Eagan.
