Russell Johnson, the actor who played “The Professor” on ‘Gilligan’s Island’ has died. According to his agent Mike Eisenstadt, Johnson died at his home in Washington of natural causes on Thursday, January 16th.
In the 1960s Johnson was cast in the slapstick comedy ‘Gilligan’s Island’ about seven people marooned on an island. Johnson later joked about The Professor because he could make everything accept the hole in the boat to bring them back home.
The show was broadcast by CBS, and after three seasons ‘Giligan’s Island’ was canceled. But the show became a hit after the cancelation due to reunion movies and reruns.
Johnson also played parts in ‘Roseanne’, ‘ALF’, ‘Dynasty’, ‘Fame’, ‘MacGyver’, ‘Dallas’, ‘Santa Barbara’, 'Knots Landing' and many more.
