FX has decided, after ten episodes of low ratings, not to renew ‘Saint George’ for a second season.
‘Saint George’ follows the life of the American-Mexican George Lopez. He is leading a rather chaotic live and must navigate between two cultures. Lopez is a successful entrepreneur and recently divorced. But his business and his personal life are being scrutinized in ‘Saint George’.
FX made a deal with Debmar-Mercury (part of Lionsgate) that if the first season was a success and the rating reach a curtain number they had to order a second season of 90 episodes (similar to the ‘Anger Management’ deal).
The sitcom started in March with a rating of 1.21 million viewers, but the ratings dropped very soon after. The last episode only had 651.000 viewers reason enough for FX to not want to renew ‘Saint George’.
Although ‘Saint George’ has been cancelled Lionsgate is open to work with Lopez again. FX and Lionsgate are currently working together on another 10-90 series, ‘Partners’. Starring Martin Lawrence and Kelsey Grammer, the comedy will premiere on Monday, August 4.
