Executive producer Brian Grazer of ‘Arrested Development’ said during an interview with Bill Simmons that 17 episodes are planned for the fifth season of ‘Arrested Development’. He said: “People are loyal to it, and we’re going to do another (pause) 17 episodes. So stay tuned for ‘Arrested Development’.”

Arrested Development’ ran for three low-rated seasons on Fox before it was cancelled. Series creator Mitch Hurwitz reunited the cast years later to make a fourth season for Netflix. Last year, Ted Sarandos, Netflix's chief content, said that he was positive that there will be a fifth season but that it was just a matter of working around the schedules of the cast.
