After ‘Fringe’ and ‘Sleepy Hollow’, it is now ‘Elementary’s turn to receive John Noble in a regular role. CBS announced the news on Wednesday 3 June.
Noble will play the wealthy, estranged father of Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) in the crime drama ‘Elementary’. The character has been referenced in past seasons as being instrumental in Sherlock’s first stint in rehab three years ago and in pairing his son with Joan Watson (Lucy Liu), his former sober companion-turned-investigative partner and friend. In the season-four premiere, airing this fall, the father of Holmes arrives in New York City to deal with the aftermath of his son’s recent relapse.
“We could not be more delighted to have John Noble taking on such an important role,” said 'Elementary' creator Robert Doherty. “We’ve enjoyed his work for many years now — especially his tremendous run on ‘Fringe’ — and cannot wait to see him opposite Jonny and Lucy. It’s going to be an exciting season.”
In addition to his regular roles in ‘Fringe’ and ‘Sleepy Hollow’, Noble also appeared as guest star in ‘The Good Wife’, ‘Forever’ and ‘24’.
