Ryan Murphy has announced new horror series Grotesquerie

Ryan Murphy is bringing a new horror series to FX this fall, titled Grotesquerie.

Ryan Murphy, the creator of series such as American Horror Story, 9-1-1 and Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, announced the new series, Grotesquerie, on Instagram with a video full of text.

No details about the series were revealed, but a bit about who will be appearing in Grotesquerie. Niecy Nash-Betts (photo), who also appeared in Murphy's Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville will play the leading roles in the series.

In addition to Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Nash-Betts played numerous other series roles. She had a regular role in The Rookie: Feds and appeared in FX's Mrs. America. In 2019, she starred in Ava DuVernay's Netflix limited series When They See Us.

Vance stars in the AMC series 61st Street, which is now a The CW series. He also appeared in National Geographic's Genius: Aretha, about the life of soul singer Aretha Franklin, and as attorney Johnnie Cochran in FX's The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

British Manville played the role of Princess Margaret in the last two seasons of Netflix hit The Crown. She also had a regular role in Prime Video's Citadel and the Starz series Dangerous Liaisons.

In the Grotesquerie video, Nash-Betts’ character can be heard saying, “I don’t know when it started, I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s different now. There’s been a shift, like something’s opening up in the world, a kind of hole that descends into a nothingness.”

Production on the new FX series will begin soon for a fall premiere. Additional details will be announced later.
