Hacks actors Megan Stalter and Paul W. Downs promoted to series regulars in the third season

We will see Kayla and Jimmy more often in the third season of HBO hit Hacks with Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder.

Megan Stalter and Paul W. Downs, who have played the characters since the first season, have been promoted to series regulars for the upcoming third season, launching this spring.

Downs (pictured), who is co-creator, co-showrunner, executive producer, writer and director of Hacks, voices Deborah and Ava's manager, Jimmy Lusaque Jr. and Stalter plays his assistant, Kayla Schaeffer. Both have been on the HBO Max series since season one.

The storyline of season three is as follows: A year after her divorce, Deborah Vance (Smart) is very happy with the success of her standup special, while Ava (Einbinder) looks for new opportunities in Los Angeles.

Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo and Lorenza Izzo also star in the new season.

Hacks was created and run by Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky. Downs and Aniello produce through their Paulilu banner, Statsky through First Thought Productions, along with Michael Schur through Fremulon, David Miner for 3 Arts Entertainment and Morgan Sackett. The studio is Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Stalter can also be seen in the feature film Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain on Peacock. She can soon be seen in Kay Cannon's upcoming feature film My Ex-Friend's Wedding for Sony and in Lena Dunham's Netflix series Too Much.

Downs is also known for his role as Trey Pucker on Comedy Central's Broad City, which ran for five seasons. Behind the camera, he also served as writer, director and executive producer of the series. Downs starred in Sony's Rough Night opposite Scarlett Johansson, which he wrote and produced with Aniello, who directed.
