Halo canceled by Paramount+ after two seasons

There will be no third season of the live-action series Halo. Paramount+ has canceled the series, which is based on the famous video game.
The news comes a few months after season two of Halo launched on the streaming service. Amblin Television, Xbox and 343 Industries are currently shopping Halo in hopes of finding a new home, sources understand.

Halo

“We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work. We wish everyone the best going forward,” a spokesperson for Paramount+ said in a statement Thursday.

Added 343 Industries: “We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future. We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.”

In season two of Halo, Master Chief John-117 leads his team of Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant. After a shocking event on a deserted planet, John can't shake the feeling that his war is about to change and he risks everything to prove what no one else wants to believe - that the Covenant are preparing to attack its greatest stronghold of humanity. With the galaxy on the brink of collapse, John embarks on a journey to find the key to humanity's salvation or extinction - the Halo.

The series was led by showrunner and executive producer David Wiener and was set in the universe that first appeared in 2001 with the launch of the first Halo game on Xbox. The series depicts an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant.

Halo starred Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief, Spartan-117 and Natascha McElhone as Dr. Halsey, who also served as producers in both seasons.

Other returning cast members included Jen Taylor, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy and Danny Sapani.

Very unfortunate... I just thought that the second season finally started to get the atmosphere of the games.

Very sorry! As usual with me, I don't know the games, but I love these types of military sci-fi series. And I really like this one.
Master Chief taking off his helmet was no problem for me. I understand that for a lot of gamers. They do not understand that television often requires something different than computer games.
I sincerely hope that they can still sell the series somewhere. Ultimately, other series also succeeded, such as The Expanse.
