My Brilliant Friend has been renewed with a third season. The series, which has been made by HBO and the Italian network Rai Italia, is based on the Neapolitan novels from Elena Ferrante. The third season will be based on the third book, which is called Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay. My Brilliant Friend was created by Saverio Costanzo and premiered in 2018.
My Brilliant Friend tells the story of Elena Greco and her biggest friend. She meets Raffaella Cerullo, who she calls Lila, in the first year of an elementary school in 1950. Although Lila is her best friend, she is also her biggest enemy. The story takes place in a dangerous and fascinating Napoli and shows more than 60 years of their lives.
