Reid Scott (Veep) added to Law & Order's regular cast for season 23

Reid Scott, known for his roles in Veep and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, will be seen as a new regular face in the NBC police series for the upcoming season, as an as-yet-unnamed NYPD detective.

Scott will fill the void left by Jeffrey Donovan, who recently left the series due to creative differences. Donovan played Detective Frank Cosgrove in seasons 21 and 22 of Dick Wolf's Wolf Entertainment drama Law & Order.

This is the second detective change in the revival. Anthony Anderson, who reprised his role as Detective Kevin Bernard from the original series, left after season 21 and was succeeded by Mehcad Brooks, who joined the cast in season 22 as Frank's new partner Jalen Shaw.

Scott (pictured) recently appeared in the fifth and final season of the Emmy-winning The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, after having already played a role in season four. He previously starred in another Emmy-winning comedy, HBO's Veep, for seven seasons. He was recently seen in the Daphne episode of the FX anthology series American Horror Stories.

The Law & Order cast also includes Sam Waterston as DA Jack McCoy, Hugh Dancy (Hannibal, The Path) as Senior Assistant Prosecutor Nolan Price and Camryn Manheim (The Practice) as Lt. Kate Dixon.

Law & Order, which airs its 23rd season on Thursday, January 18, 2024, is produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Scott just finished production on the Amazon film Idea of You, starring Anne Hathaway and directed by Michael Showalter. Reid also stars in the pandemic comedy Who Invited Charlie? opposite Adam Palley and Jordana Brewster and is the executive producer of this comedy, and was seen in the film Wildflower with Alexandra Daddario and Kiernan Shipka.
