Camryn Manheim will not return to Law & Order for season 24

Another departure of a familiar face in Law & Order: Camryn Manheim will no longer be seen next season.

Following Sam Waterston's shocking departure from Law & Order earlier this year, fans of the hit NBC series will also say goodbye to Camryn Manheim, whose final appearance will be in the season 23 finale airing on Thursday, May 16.

Manheim (pictured) joined the series as Lieutenant Kate Dixon in the season 21 premiere episode entitled The Right Thing, although she had played minor guest roles in seasons one, three and four. Dixon is currently the commander of the Manhattan North Homicide Squad's 27th Precinct.

“I thank Camryn for her three wonderful seasons helping us relaunch Law & Order. She is a class act and I wish her nothing but the best for her next chapter,” shared series creator Dick Wolf in a statement.

Following Waterston's departure, Tony Goldwyn joined the series as the new district attorney, Nicholas Baxter. Nothing is known yet about who will take over from Dixon in season 24. Before Dixon took over, Anita Van Buren was the top boss. She was played by S. Epatha Merkerson, who currently stars in Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television's series Chicago Med.
