Tease trailer for Prime Video's video game adaptation Like a Dragon: Yakuza revealed

The streamer is following up Fallout with another video game adaptation.
The Like a Dragon game series (formerly known as Yakuza) from Japanese developer Ryu Ga Gotoku is becoming increasingly popular in the West. That is reason for Amazon to work on a series with the developer and publisher Sega.

Kiryu will soon get a live-action series. At Comic-Con, Amazon unveiled the first look at its upcoming adaptation of the Yakuza series of games, with the series Like a Dragon: Yakuza (not to be confused with the game Yakuza: Like a Dragon). The series follows original Yakuza hero Kazuma Kiryu.

Amazon says the series will "showcase modern Japan and the dramatic stories of these intense characters, like the legendary Kazuma Kiryu, that games have not been able to explore in the past." Kiryu is played by Ryoma Takeuchi, while Kento Kaku stars as Akira Nishikiyama. The series is directed by Masaharu Take.

Of course, Yakuza joins a wave of game adaptations for television, like HBO's The Last of Us, Peacock's Twisted Metal, and Amazon's own live-action version of Fallout. Yakuza publisher Sega has already achieved success with the expansion of Sonic the Hedgehog with films and a spin-off series.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza starts on Prime Video on Thursday, October 24 with the first three episodes.
