Apple TV+ series Loot pauses filming for second season due to picketers

Loot is the latest series to have production halted due to the WGA writers' strike.
The Apple TV+ series, starring Maya Rudolph, was in production for its second season, but WGA picketers caused studio Universal Television to halt production at the Bel-Air location.

The series joins series such as HBO Max's Hacks, Showtime's Billions, Netflix's Unstable and Starz' The Venery of Samantha Bird, all of which have halted production.

The production shutdown came on the fourth day of the WGA strike last Friday, which saw thousands of writers take to the streets in Hollywood and New York to protest the studios' offer.

Loot

Loot was renewed for a second season last year. Rudolph, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Joel Kim Booster, Nat Faxon, Ron Funches and Stephanie Styles star.

Created, written and produced by Yang and Hubbard, Loot stars Rudolph as billionaire Molly Novak, who lives a dream life complete with private jets, a sprawling mansion and a megayacht, everything her heart desires. But when her husband betrays her after twenty years, she goes into a public spiral and becomes fodder for the tabloids. She hits rock bottom when, to her surprise, she learns that she owns a charity run by no-nonsense Sofia Salinas (Rodriguez), who begs Molly to stop generating bad press.

With her devoted assistant Nicholas (Kim Booster) by her side and with the help of Sofia and her team, including sweet-natured accountant Arthur (Faxon) and her optimistic, pop-culture-hungry cousin Howard (Funches), Molly embarks on a journey of self-discovery. . Giving back to others may be what she needs to come back to herself.

Yang and Hubbard are producing with Rudolph through Animal Pictures. Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll, Poker Face) and Danielle Renfrew Behrens (Russian Doll) also serve as executive producers. In addition, Dave Becky (Insecure) produces. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio.
