Justina Machado to land major recurring role in season two of Matlock (2024)

Justina Machado, known for One Day At a Time (2017), has been cast in a major recurring role in season two of the popular legal drama series Matlock (2024).Justina Machado will play Eva, a brilliant, powerful, and ambitious lawyer who is also the fourth ex-wife of Howard "Senior" Markston (played by Beau Bridges). Eva is the one who ultimately made him swear never to marry again.

In the series, Eva (Machado) is the managing partner of the Miami law firm Jacobson Moore. She arrives unexpectedly in New York for an emergency meeting but uses the opportunity to further her own interests.

Machado reunites with Jennie Snyder Urman, the creator of Matlock (2024), with whom she previously collaborated on the successful series Jane the Virgin. CBS Studios, the producer of both series, is also back.

She is the second Jane the Virgin cast member to join Matlock (2024); Yael Grobglas also has a recurring role in the series, which stars Kathy Bates.

Machado appeared in the Netflix medical drama series Pulse and the Amazon/Blumhouse series The Horror of Dolores Roach. She previously gained widespread recognition for her leading role in the acclaimed Netflix reboot of One Day at a Time (2017).
