Winning Time actress Ari Graynor cast in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story

Ari Graynor (Winning Time: The Rise of the Dynasty Lakers) has joined Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is the second season of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan's true crime anthology series for Netflix.

Graynor plays Leslie Abramson, one of the most prominent defense attorneys in Los Angeles in the 1980s and 1990s, who became Erik Menendez's lead attorney.



In Monsters, Graynor (pictured) joins Nicholas Chavez (General Hospital) and Cooper Koch (Power Book II: Ghost), who play Lyle and Erik respectively, as well as Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Man) and Chloë Sevigny (Poker Face ), who play their parents. Nathan Lane (Only Murders in the Building) plays Dominick Dunne.

Graynor was recently seen in a major recurring role on Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty for HBO. Her other previous roles include Apple TV's Surface, Mrs. America from FX, I'm Dying Up Here from Showtime and the legendary series The Sopranos from HBO.

Murphy and Brennan produce alongside Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, David McMillan, Louise Shore and Carl Franklin.

In 1989, Lyle and Erik Menendez murdered their parents Jose and Kitty in their home near Los Angeles. Although they were not initially considered prime suspects, they were investigated in the following months and they eventually confessed to parricide, while at the same time claiming that their actions stemmed from years of physical, emotional and sexual abuse at the hands of their father.

Their first of two trials, broadcast on Court TV, gripped the nation, as did O.J.'s trial. Simpson in 1994, and is believed to have played a role in today's fascination with 'true crime'. Prosecutors argued that the pair were in fact out to inherit their father's multimillion-dollar fortune, and the Menendez brothers were sentenced in 1996 to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The first season of the anthology series, Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, starred Evan Peters as the infamous serial killer. The series debuted in September 2022 and became one of the most popular English-language Netflix series ever. This led to Netflix greenlighting two sequel seasons, the first of which is Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
