The news about Murderbot comes just after the first season finale on Friday, July 11th.
The series is based on the first book in the award-winning Murderbot Diaries series by author Martha Wells, who won prestigious Hugo and Nebula Awards, among others. Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz adapted the book into a television series and are serving as showrunners.
In a joint statement, the brothers expressed their gratitude for the positive reception and their delight in returning to the world Wells created, along with Skarsgård, Apple, CBS Studios, and the rest of the team.
In addition to Skarsgård, the cast includes Noma Dumezweni, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, Akshay Khanna, Tattiawna Jones, and Tamara Podemski.
With the renewal, Apple TV+ demonstrates its confidence in the mix of action, humor, and philosophical depth that makes Murderbot so unique, and the platform promises even more adventures and self-reflection from the beloved robot.
I'm just wondering if the cast will stay the same. It seems like the new season will take place somewhere completely different. But I'm not familiar with the books, so I can't be sure.
