The prestigious fiction series Máxima, which had its world premiere last week at the international Canneseries festival and will be shown at Videoland from today, will soon be shown weekly on Streamz.
The Dutch series with international allure and a star cast to die for, immediately became world news upon its announcement and is already extremely sought after internationally before episode one can be seen anywhere in the world.
In six episodes, Máxima tells the fascinating life story of the - now - Dutch queen Máxima Zorreguieta. From her turbulent youth in Argentina and her 'American Dream' in New York, to her life as a partner of Crown Prince Willem-Alexander. It provides a behind-the-scenes look at the royalty romance that has touched the hearts of our southern neighbors and continues to do so today. The modern fairy tale is overshadowed by the questionable past of Máxima's father, which put the Dutch royal family under considerable pressure and faced unprecedented dilemmas.
The series starts in 1999 in Seville, when Máxima and Willem-Alexander meet for the first time at the Feria de Abril. How do you react when you suddenly find yourself dancing with someone who turns out to be a crown prince? When you realize that there might be a future in this relationship… and that that means you will become queen? A first meeting with your partner's parents is already exciting, but how on earth do you behave when your mother-in-law is a king?
The refreshing Argentinian actress Delfina Chaves is a pleasure to watch and listen to, and not only turns the head of Willem-Alexander, played by Martijn Lakemeier.
No expense was spared for the grand production. Lakemeier and Chaves filmed in Buenos Aires, New York, Spain, the Netherlands and also in Belgium. At the beginning of their relationship, Zorreguieta lived in Brussels for a year, so that he could date Willem-Alexander in complete secrecy. It is just one of the imaginative stories that will be discussed at Streamz from Monday, April 29.
Thanks to the must-see fiction series, based on the book Máxima Zorreguieta: Motherland by Marcia Luyten, the viewer witnesses the most romantic love story of the Low Countries, and the compelling and intriguing story of a young, cool and strong woman who falls in love. The cast also includes Elsie de Brauw as Queen Beatrix, Sebastian Koch as Prince Consort Claus, Valeria Alonso as Máxima's mother Maria Pame, Daniel Freire as Máxima's father Jorge Zorreguieta, Frank Lammers as Willibrord Frequin and Jacob Derwig as Thomas Wagenaar.
Máxima can be seen on Streamz from Monday, April 29, with a new episode of the six-part series appearing every Monday. From Monday, May 6, the series can also be seen weekly at 9:55 PM on VTM and on VTM GO.
