Freeform is also canceling its last two scripted series

The end has come for Freeform's final two series. The Disney cable network canceled both series.
Freeform has canceled the anthology series Cruel Summer after two seasons, and Good Trouble will end with the second half of its upcoming fifth season.

Sources say Good Trouble will get the chance to film some additional scenes for a super-sized finale episode to wrap up the series properly. Season 5B starts on Tuesday, January 2.

The series were Freeform's last remaining original scripted series after the animated comedy Praise Petey was canceled in November.

Cruel Summer

The final season of Cruel Summer was set in an idyllic waterfront town in the Pacific Northwest and followed the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship. The season approached the story from three different timelines circa 2000, twisting and turning as it followed the early friendship between Megan, Isabella and Megan's best friend Luke, the love triangle that blossomed and the mystery that would impact all of their lives going forward.

The series starred Sadie Stanley, Lexi Underwood, Griffin Gluck, KaDee Strickland, Lisa Yamada and Sean Blakemore. Paul Adelstein and Braeden De La Garza had recurring roles.

Cruel Summer came from studio eOne and was created by Bert V. Royal. Elle Triedman was the showrunner. Executive producers were Triedman, Bill Purple, Tia Napolitano and Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple of Iron Ocean Productions. The series was produced and distributed internationally by eOne.

Good Trouble

The Fosters spinoff Good Trouble followed the twenty-year-old residents of The Coterie residential group in Los Angeles.

In what will now be the final season, the housemates face their toughest obstacles yet as they deal with changing relationship challenges and new career opportunities. Through highs and lows, romance and heartbreak, The Coterie crew will lean on each other as they navigate the next phase of adulthood.

The series stars Cierra Ramirez, Tommy Martinez, Emma Hunton, Sherry Cola, Zuri Adele, Josh Pence, Bryan Craig and Booboo Stewart.

The series is produced by Joanna Johnson, Christine Sacani, Greg Gugliotta, Jennifer Lopez, Benny Medina, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Cierra Ramirez. Johnson is also showrunner.
