Modine (pictured right) portrays the powerful founding partner of Adam's (Corey Stoll) law firm, Bill Braddock, a man of many desires who can be an ally or a threat depending on the day.
Sloyer (pictured left) plays Jake Rodriguez, a colleague of Adam's at the Manhattan law firm. He and Adam bond over their status as outsiders in the office, and over time he has grown close to the entire family. But that bond is tested by Adam's murder.
As previously announced, Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks lead the cast as sisters Chloe and Nicky, with Bobby Naderi as Matt, Maxwell Acee Donovan as Ethan and Kim Dickens as Nancy.
From Tomorrow Studios, which will produce with Amazon MGM Studios, The Better Sister meditates on the terrible things that drive sisters apart and ultimately bring them back together.
Biel's Chloe navigates the world with her handsome lawyer Adam (Stoll) and teenage son Ethan (Donovan) by her side, while her estranged sister Nicky (Banks) struggles to stay clean and make ends meet. When Adam is brutally murdered, the prime suspect sends shockwaves through the family and uncovers long-buried secrets.
Olivia Milch, who wrote the pilot, and Regina Corrado are the executive producers and showrunners. Craig Gillespie will direct the series and produce alongside Annie Marter through Fortunate Jack Productions.
In addition to Milch and Corrado, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements and Alissa Bachner are executive producers through Tomorrow Studios, a partnership with ITV Studios, as well as Banks, Biel and Michelle Purple. Author Burke has been appointed as a consultant.
Sloyer was recently noticed for his role as Detective Diaz in the hit Netflix series Griselda starring Sofia Vergara. Sloyer previously appeared in series such as Prime Video's The Wilds and Netflix series Inventing Anna and Narcos, among many others.
Modine is best known today for his role as Dr. Martin 'Papa' Brenner in Netflix hit Stranger Things, which is starting its fifth and final season. Last year he appeared in Christopher Nolan's Oscar winner Oppenheimer. Alongside Robert De Niro and many others, he can soon be seen in Netflix's political thriller series Zero Day.
