Prime Video's El Gato adds Eric Lange and Alfonso Dosal to its permanent cast

Eric Lange and Alfonso Dosal have been added to the regular cast of the Prime Video series El Gato (working title).
They join previously announced cast members Diego Boneta, Lorenza Izzo, Sarah Jones and Adriana Barraza.

El Gato is based on the comic series El Gato Negro by Richard Dominguez and follows Frank Guerrero (Boneta), who returns to Mexico after the death of his father. There he finds himself among a nest of vipers - his estranged family - vying for control of his father's business empire.

But Frank's grief is interrupted when he learns that his only inheritance, a seemingly worthless plot of land on the border, sits atop the hideout of a famous costumed vigilante - his father, 'El Gato'. Now Frank is in the crosshairs. To survive, he must solve mysteries that have been going on for decades and unravel the truth about his father's connections to a modern-day terror plot.

Lange (pictured left) is cast as Simon Casimir aka The Nazarite, an ascetic, monk-like warrior. Simon long suffered from the sins he committed as the country's top assassin - until he was given a chance at redemption. Simon wanted to atone for his past and called himself 'The Nazarite' (like Samson in the Bible).

The Nazarite has much more power than an ordinary man. He believes this power is God-given, a reward for his strict vows of self-denial, but the truth is more complicated. He's a terrifying force of nature, but he's also damaged and sympathetic - a tragic hero. Somewhere between Doc Holliday, Don Quixote and the Jackal. This season his faith will be tested.

Dosal (pictured right) has been cast as Alejandro Guerrero, interim CEO of an agricultural company owned by a billion-dollar family. Alejandro is shrewd and educated in Oxford. He leads a lavish lifestyle but takes little pleasure in it. Although he is technically our hero's cousin, the two are more estranged brothers and rivals.

The strain of a troubled marriage and corporate intrigue have exacerbated Alejandro's insecurities. But in the series we will see how his ambition and the jealousy he harbors for his 'uncle' push him past his fears and lead him down... a treacherous path.

Eric Carrasco created the series and will executive produce the series with Turi Meyer and Alfredo Septién. In addition to Carrasco, the series is executive produced by Boneta, Meyer, Septién, Toluca Pictures' Steve Stark, 1.21's Andrew Mittman and Carla Gonzalez Vargas; and co-executive produced by Kai Dolbashian, Marilu G. Carranza and Joel Novoa-Schneider. El Gato is produced by MGM Television, a division of Amazon MGM Studios.

Lange received a Critics' Choice Award nomination for his role in Showtime's Escape at Dannemora. He recently appeared in HBO's historical drama series Perry Mason (2020) and Apple TV+'s limited series Sugar.

Previous work includes Beacon 23 for AMC, Netflix's Narcos, Unbelievable and Brand New Cherry Flavor, and Paramount Network's limited series Waco.

Dosal is best known to international audiences for his portrayal of Mexican drug boss Benjamín Arellano Félix in Netflix's hit series Narcos: Mexico.
