Another big name added to Showtime series The Agency

Richard Gere stars opposite Michael Fassbender and Jeffrey Wright in Paramount+'s The Agency with Showtime.

Gere (photo below) chose The Agency, produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov, after receiving offers for several high-profile series in recent months.

The Agency is a remake of the French series Le Bureau des Légendes and follows Martian (Fassbender), a secret CIA agent who is ordered to give up his undercover life and return to the station in London. When the love he left behind resurfaces, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission collide with his heart, drawing them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage.

Gere will play the series regular role of Bosko, the London police chief with a storied past after serving as an undercover cop for eight years.

The Agency is currently being produced in London on behalf of Showtime Studios and produced in association with 101 Studios.

“Richard Gere is in a class of his own, adored by generations of fans worldwide for his exceptional ability to infuse depth and authenticity into every role he plays,” said Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO and President/CEO, Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios. “We are delighted to have him join our extraordinary cast which includes Michael Fassbender and Jeffrey Wright in Showtime’s latest thriller.”

The Agency will debut on-demand and streaming for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with Showtime subscription before airing linearly. The series is streaming internationally on Paramount+ in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Italy, Germany, Latin America, Brazil and Japan. The series is distributed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution and Federation Studios.

Created by Eric Rochant, Le Bureau des Légendes is a Canal+ Creation Original series produced by TOP - The Originals Productions and Federation Studios.

The Agency is produced by Keith Cox and Nina L. Diaz (Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios), David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari (101 Studios), George Clooney and Grant Heslov (Smokehouse Pictures), Alex Berger (The Originals Productions) and Ashley Stern and Pascal Breton (Federation Studios/Federation Entertainment of America).

Jez and John-Henry Butterworth are writers and executive producers; Joe Wright serves as executive producer and director for the first two episodes.

Gere is known for his many diverse film roles, from An Officer and a Gentleman to Primal Fear and from Pretty Woman to Arbitrage. He can soon be seen in Oh' Canada, from director Paul Schrader, alongside Jacob Elordi and Uma Thurman, and in The Making Of alongside Diane Keaton and Blake Lively.

In the field of television, it is rare that we encounter Gere. Five years ago he appeared in the BBC's limited British thriller series MotherFatherSon.
