Lorraine Toussaint added to cast of The Better Sister

Lorraine Toussaint has been cast in a series regular role opposite Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks in Prime Video's thriller series The Better Sister.
The series is based on the novel by Alafair Burke and comes from Tomorrow Studios, which will co-produce with Amazon MGM Studios.

The Better Sister is about the terrible things that tear sisters apart and ultimately bring them back together.

Biel leads the cast as Chloe, who navigates the world with her handsome lawyer Adam and teenage son Ethan by her side, while her estranged sister Nicky (Banks) struggles to stay clean and make ends meet. When Adam is brutally murdered, the prime suspect sends shockwaves through the family and uncovers long-buried secrets.

Toussaint (pictured) plays Catherine Lancaster. As Chloe's mentor and boss and grande dame of publishing, who can make queens of the women of New York City, Catherine always thinks about the long term.

Corey Stoll, Bobby Naderi, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Kim Dickens, Gabriel Sloyer, Matthew Modine and Gloria Reuben also star.

Olivia Milch, who wrote the pilot, and Regina Corrado are the executive producers and showrunners. Craig Gillespie will direct the series and produce alongside Annie Marter through Fortunate Jack Productions.

In addition to Milch and Corrado, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements and Alissa Bachner are executive producers through Tomorrow Studios, a partnership with ITV Studios, as well as Banks, Biel and Michelle Purple. Author Burke has been appointed as an advisor.

Toussaint is also currently starring opposite Queen Latifah in CBS's The Equalizer, which is in its fifth season. Thanks to an unprecedented agreement between Amazon, ITV and CBS, Toussaint can take on the regular role in The Better Sister.

Her other television roles include Showtime's Your Honor (US), AMC's Into the Badlands, Fox's Rosewood and Netflix's Orange Is the New Black.
