Thessa Thompson will star in Netflix limited series His & Hers

Netflix has formally greenlit His & Hers, a psychological thriller starring Tessa Thompson.
The six-episode limited series, based on the novel by Alice Feeney, comes from writer/executive producer Bill Dubuque, writer/executive producer Dee Johnson, who serves as showrunner, filmmaker William Oldroyd, who serves as writer and the first episode will directing, as well as executive producers Jessica Chastain and Kristen Campo. Fifth Season is the studio.

In the sweltering heat of Atlanta, Anna (Thompson, photo) lives in ghostly seclusion, away from her friends and career as a journalist. But when she hears about a murder in Dahlonega - the sleepy town where she grew up - she comes back to life, throws herself into the case and searches for answers.

Detective Jack Harper finds her involvement strange and puts her in the crosshairs of his own investigation. There are two sides to every story, his and hers, which means someone is always lying.

Published at the height of the pandemic in 2020, Feeney's His & Hers was quickly picked up by Chastain's Freckle Films, Campo and Fifth Season (then Endeavor Content) for a series adaptation.

The project was gradually staffed and developed, moving the setting from London, where Anna is a BBC newsreader in the book, to Atlanta. It eventually made its way to Netflix, where Thompson was in talks for the lead role more than a month ago, thus greenlighting the series.

Campo produces for Campout Productions, Chastain and Kelly Carmichael for Freckle Films and Kishori Rajan for Viva Maude.

The project is part of Chastain's ongoing relationship with Fifth Season, where Freckle Films has a first-look deal and is also producing Apple TV+'s upcoming limited series The Savant, with Chastain starring and serving as executive producer.

Thompson produces through her Viva Maude label, along with MGM's Orion Pictures and Plan B. Earlier this year, Viva Maude inked a first-look film deal with Amazon MGM Studios. The company currently has more than two dozen feature film and television projects in development, including The Secret Lives of Church Ladies for HBO Max and an adaptation of Luster.

Thompson is an actress known for her role as Valkyrie in several Marvel films, including Thor: Ragnarok and The Marvels. On the series front, she had regular roles in The CW's Veronica Mars, BBC America's historical drama Copper and played the role of Charlotte Hale in HBO's Westworld.
