Simone Miller and Jason Diaz have been cast alongside Mary-Louise Parker and Ben Barnes in The Institute. Based on Stephen King's 2019 novel, MGM+'s thriller series comes from director/executive producer Jack Bender, writer/executive producer Benjamin Cavell and MGM+ Studios.
In the eight episodes of The Institute, twelve-year-old genius Luke Ellis is kidnapped and awakens in The Institute, a facility full of children who all got there the same way he did and who all possess unusual gifts.
In a nearby town, troubled former police officer Tim Jamieson (Barnes) has come to start a new life, but the peace won't last long as his story and Luke's are destined to collide.
Miller (pictured, left) plays Kalisha, a sarcastic but kind inmate of the institute who becomes one of Luke's closest allies.
Diaz (pictured, right) plays Tony, the most sadistic of the Institute's medics, who delights in exerting his power over the children.
When The Institute was released in 2019, it was originally acquired by Spyglass for the Mr. Mercedes team of writer/executive producer David E. Kelley and executive producer Bender. This is a new incarnation of the project with a new writer and studio.
Miller recently appeared on Hulu's Run The Burbs and was a regular face on HBO Max's Detention Adventure.
Diaz has had recurring roles on Vampire Academy, The 100, Charmed (2018) and The Bold Type. He recently appeared on an episode of CBS's Tracker.
