Poppy Liu and Chris Bauer have been added to the cast of the limited series His & Hers in recurring roles. They will star opposite lead actress and executive producer Tessa Thompson. Production begins this fall. The six-episode limited series from William Oldroyd and based on the novel by Alice Feeney is set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta, where Anna (Thompson) lives in ghostly seclusion, languishing from her friends and career as a journalist.
But when she hears about a murder in Dahlonega - the sleepy town where she grew up - she comes back to life, throws herself into the case and searches for answers. Detective Jack Harper (Jon Bernthal) finds her involvement strange and puts her in the crosshairs of his own investigation. There are two sides to every story, his and hers, which means someone is always lying.
Liu (pictured, left) plays Helen Wang, the headmistress of St. Hilary's Academy who is fiercely protective of herself. She is a close friend of the murder victim and becomes increasingly irritated and enraged by Anna's reporting, but Anna cannot help it and feels that Helen is hiding something.
Bauer (pictured, right) will play Clyde Duffie, Rachel's husband and a pizza chain magnate who is very outspoken about his immense wealth. After Rachel is found murdered in the woods, he becomes a person of interest to Detective Jack Harper and the secrets he keeps may make him the perfect suspect.
His & Hers also stars Pablo Schreiber, Crystal Fox, Sunita Mani, Rebecca Rittenhouse and Marin Ireland.
The limited series comes from writer/executive producer Bill Dubuque; writer/executive producer Dee Johnson, who serves as showrunner; filmmaker William Oldroyd, who serves as writer, executive producer and will direct the first episode; as well as executive producers Jessica Chastain and Kristen Campo. Fifth Season is the studio.
Liu is best known for her role as Kiki in the critically acclaimed HBO Max series Hacks, for which she received a SAG nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. She will soon be seen in Netflix's drama-comedy series No Good Deed, opposite Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow. Liu has also appeared in Apple TV+'s The Afterparty, Prime Video's Dead Ringers and AMC's Better Call Saul.
Bauer can soon be seen opposite Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen in the Paramount+ limited series JonBenet and in Rian Johnson's Peacock series Poker Face, opposite Natasha Lyonne. He recently played the unrecognizable Senator McCarthy in the Peabody Award-winning series Fellow Travelers, for Showtime. He currently stars as wrestler Wild Bill Hancock in Starz's Heels. His multiple long-running television roles include Frank Sobotka in HBO's The Wire and Andy Bellefleur in True Blood, also from HBO.
