Emily Hampshire Cast as E.D.I.T.H. in Marvel's Vision Series for Disney+

Emily Hampshire, known for the series Schitt's Creek, is set for a key role in Marvel's Vision series for Disney+.
Emily Hampshire, known for her beloved role as Stevie Budd on Schitt’s Creek , is soon joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She has been cast as E.D.I.T.H. in the upcoming Disney+ series Vision , which will see Paul Bettany reprise his role as the synthezoid Vision. The series is a spin-off of the award-winning Marvel’s WandaVision and marks a new phase in the MCU, taking familiar technologies and characters from previous films and pushing them into new directions.

Hampshire’s (pictured) role is a notable one: she’ll be playing E.D.I.T.H. (Even Dead, I’m The Hero), the advanced augmented reality and defense system originally developed by Tony Stark. Fans will remember E.D.I.T.H. from Spider-Man: Far From Home, where Peter Parker inherited the system after Stark’s death. Now, E.D.I.T.H. looks set to become a major player once again — but this time in a different story, with a different purpose, and in a new context.

The presence of E.D.I.T.H. in the Vision series suggests that technology and identity — themes that were central to Marvel’s WandaVision — will be explored further in this series. And that’s reinforced by the return of James Spader as Ultron, an AI antagonist who has left deep scars on the MCU. T’Nia Miller will play an AI character: Jocasta, known in the comics as a female counterpart to Ultron. With these three powerful AIs, the series seems set to be a battle between multiple digital consciousnesses, control over technology, and the question: what makes a person human?

The series also brings back other familiar faces: Faran Tahir returns as Raza, a character from the very first Iron Man (2008), potentially anchoring Vision firmly in the MCU’s lore. The addition of Todd Stashwick and Ruaridh Mollica hints at a further broadening of the ensemble, though their roles have not yet been announced.

Hampshire is best known for her role as Stevie Budd in Schitt’s Creek, for which she won the SAG Award for Comedy Ensemble. She also recently starred in Prime Video’s supernatural thriller series The Rig. Other roles include SyFy’s sci-fi mystery drama 12 Monkeys and Epix horror series Chapelwaite.

With this casting, Vision is increasingly becoming a core series within the renewed Marvel offering on Disney+. Where Agatha All Along plays on magic and mystery, and Daredevil: Born Again goes street-level, Vision seems set to focus on the boundaries between man, machine, and identity — with Hampshire’s E.D.I.T.H. as a possible key to it all.
