Gloria Reuben Joins Cast of CBS Series Boston Blue

Gloria Reuben, best known for her Emmy-nominated role in ER, has landed a series regular role on the new CBS drama series Boston Blue, a spinoff of the long-running Blue Bloods.
In Boston Blue, Mark Wahlberg reprises his role as NYPD Officer Danny Reagan, a character from the original Blue Bloods. This time, he’s transferred to Boston, where he’s paired with Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), the daughter of an influential law enforcement family.

Gloria Reuben (pictured) plays Mae Silver, the Boston District Attorney and head of a mixed family of police officers and law enforcement officials. Mae is the widow of a judge who was tragically murdered on the courthouse steps. Despite her demanding role, she always tries to put her family first.

Mae is the mother of Lena and the stepmother of Sarah (played by Maggie Lawson), the current chief of police. Her son Jonah is a rookie cop and her father is Reverend Peters, played by Ernie Hudson. Mae Silver is a woman who is used to making decisions and not easily second-guessing.

Reuben and Martin-Green also recently starred together as mother and daughter in the film My Dead Friend Zoe, which makes this casting extra meaningful.

For Reuben, Boston Blue won’t be her first foray into the Blue Bloods universe — she briefly appeared as an ATF agent in two episodes of the original series in 2021. She also recently guest-starred on CBS’s Elsbeth and has a role in the Prime Video limited series The Better Sister opposite Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks.

With a strong cast, familiar faces, and a new city as the backdrop, Boston Blue promises to be a fresh extension of one of CBS’ most beloved drama franchises.

Premiering this fall, the series will air in its familiar Friday night 10 p.m. slot — the Blue Bloods slot that has aired for years.
