This year we see a number of veterans who were also nominated in previous years. At the same time, there is a lot of fresh blood in this category, with a few surprising newcomers. Whichever crime series is your favorite this year, there is a good chance that it has been nominated this year. And if that isn't the case, there is always a wildcard.

Blue Lights
The BBC is the purveyor of good crime series, and Blue Lights is an excellent example of this. This series follows three police officers in training in Belfast, and makes optimal use of the Northern Irish setting to build an exciting atmosphere and provide a painful lesson in history. In addition to looking at the past, there is also an interesting look at the present and current events. It is therefore not surprising that the BBC has given this a second season.

Bosch: Legacy
Bosch: Legacy is simply a continuation of the Bosch that we have been used to for many years. The only difference is that father Harry is now a private detective and daughter Maddie works for the police. We have now reached season two, and this was possibly even better than season one. It is therefore not surprising that there will be a third season, and we can expect the necessary spin-offs in the near future.

The Continental
The John Wick films have been very successful at the box office in recent years. It was no surprise that there would be a spin-off. This fall, The Continental was released on Prime Video, which served as a prequel to the films. In three episodes we see what happened in the Continental hotel chain from the films in the 1970s. And The Continental also offers the same tight action that we know from the film series. Even though this series only lasts three episodes, there is a lot to enjoy in such a short time.

Happy Valley
We had to wait seven years for it, but it was worth it. Season three of Happy Valley offered the same quality we saw in the first two seasons. The cat-and-mouse game between agent Catherine Cawood and murderer Tommy Lee Royce was more exciting than ever. The third season was also the last. The makers wanted to end on a high note, and they succeeded.

Hijack
For many people, the name John Luther will still be associated with Idris Elba. But Idris Elba is more than Luther, and he proved that this year in the Apple TV+ series Hijack. Elba plays a passenger on a plane that is hijacked. What makes this even more exciting is that contact with the outside world is minimal, and it all takes place in real time.

The Lincoln Lawyer
Last year, The Lincoln Lawyer was a pleasant surprise on Netflix. It was not surprising that there would be a second season. In season two, attorney Mickey Haller is still working hard to climb the legal ladder and encounters new obstacles. This season has more tension and higher stakes. Fortunately for fans, the third season has already been announced.

Lupin
The only non-English series is one with prestige. The French thief Assane Diop is inspired by the books about master thief Arsène Lupin and succeeds in committing the most bizarre and spectacular thefts. Although you may sometimes question the credibility, the spectacle and Omar Sy's acting make up for a lot.

The Night Agent
When The Night Agent appeared on Netflix this year, it became a huge viewership hit. And that's not surprising, because this series is incredibly exciting. The Night Agent is full of intrigue and conspiracies and the American White House provides an excellent backdrop for it. It is tightly put together and manages to keep viewers glued to the TV. Season two has now been announced, so hopefully we can enjoy it soon.

Special Ops: Lioness
Zoe Saldaña has had iconic roles on the big screen in recent years in the Avatar, Marvel and Star Trek films. But she is also making waves on television. In Special Ops: Lioness, she leads a team of CIA agents who go undercover at terrorist organizations. It is not known whether there will be a second season. What is known is that viewers have enjoyed this exciting series.

Unforgotten
No one expected the fifth season of Unforgotten to be this good, especially after the departure of lead actor Nicola Walker in season four. Unforgotten and Nicola Walker were synonyms. On the contrary, the makers made optimal use of the void that Walker left behind to deliver another strong season. The sixth season has already been announced and the anticipation for it has already begun.
