The Rotterdam-born actress appeared in a series for the first time in 2011. She has a guest role in Flikken Maastricht. Actually, a kind of New Job that every actor or actress would like to star in at some point. In the same year, Hoekstra also appeared in the television series Mixed Up, a drama series starring Waldemar Torenstra and Georgina Verbaan. Hoekstra plays a waitress, the kind of role that she will soon 'need' less after winning her Golden Calf.
A year later, Hoekstra was cast in the Swedish crime series Arne Dahl: Upp till toppen av berget. The series is a typical Swedish series full of the most heinous crimes, from bomb attacks to drug deals and child pornography. She alternates this with, among other things, a role in the film adaptation of Mees Kees. Hoekstra also plays a role in the adaptation of the life of Freddy Heineken, alongside Anna Drijver, among others.
The VARA project According to Robert, a somewhat flat Dutch comedy with Peter Blok, tells the story of a doctor who ends up in a midlife crisis. Hoekstra plays the role of Jasmijn, doctor's daughter. In the meantime, she focuses mainly on the big screen, where she can be seen in two more Mees Kees films and the aforementioned De Helleveeg.
The next project on the small screen is a guest role in Paare, Germany. You Are Wanted, the first German Amazon Prime original, also has a guest role in store for Hoekstra a year later. She plays in this series for four episodes. Hoekstra is looking beyond borders for new roles. During this period she also starred in the - flopped - remake of Charlie's Angels. The German series Der Amsterdam Krimi is also on her resume. Hoekstra appears to be a welcome guest in foreign productions that film in the Netherlands.
Netflix's coming-of-age story How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) naturally also features a Dutchman. Hoekstra plays that role. She plays two episodes as Mia. Without credit, a performance follows in the miniseries The Battle for the Binnenhof, after which Hoekstra can be seen in a longer series for the first time in Edelfigurant. The comedy lasts one season and tells the story of an extra who has to deal with all kinds of (social) dilemmas on every set she visits. A beautiful role by Loes Knepper, who steals the show alongside Hoekstra and Frank Lammers.
In recent years you have seen Hoekstra in many series productions. She starred in Blackout - in which all electricity in Europe goes out - and Diepe Gronden - a police series with Linda de Mol that completely misses the mark of Scandinavian rawness. The series Odds follows, with Hoekstra in the role of detective Kim Benk. After that there is a role in Modern Love Amsterdam, which also seems to have been quietly stopped after six episodes on Amazon Prime.
Hoekstra's upcoming project is The Ring. BNNVARA's crime series is being announced as the biggest. No expense is spared on television advertising. This raises expectations that are often difficult to meet for a Dutch series. Hoekstra plays the leading role of Anna in this crime series. She puts a ring in her bag that isn't hers, which happens to be on screen. The owner of the ring, Simon, soon finds out and decides to blackmail her. Anna doesn't want to go to the police and is madly in love. A great recipe for everything going wrong. Are you going to watch?

I have a second cousin from another side of the family who is an actor (Bart Harder. He played in Mocro Maffia and Het Jaar van Fortuyn, among others).
