One of MGM studio’s biggest stars of the forties and fifties is no more. Mickey Rooney died in the presence of his family in his home in Hollywood April 6th.

Mickey Rooney had a carrier that extended over more than 80 years. He began his long and elaborate carrier when he was 18 months old. When he was ten he played in numerous silent movies. Rooney played in hundreds of (TV) movies and television shows.

Mickey Rooney played with big stars as Judy Garland and Elizabeth Taylor. His last television show was ‘Above the Line’. Rooney played in television shows as ‘The Black Stallion’, ‘One of the Boys’, ‘Disneyland’ and ‘The Mickey Rooney Show’. He also played cast roles in ‘ER’, ‘Conan’, Mike Hammer’, ‘The Golden Girls’ and ‘Safe Harbor’.

He was nominated for an Oscar four times and he won two special Oscars, one youth Oscar in 1939 and one Honorary Award in 1983. Rooney also won two Golden Globes and one Emmy Award.

Mickey Rooney married eight times and had nine children. He was 93 years old.
