Streaming service Quibi discontinued

After slightly more than six months, the streaming service Quibi is done for. It is owned by former Disney and Pixar boss Jeffrey Katzenberg.
The streaming service Quibi is done for. It was created by former Disney and Pixar boss Jeffrey Katzenberg. Quibi launched on the 6th of April, and after slightly more than six months, the streaming service will be no more. Currently, the search is on for a potential buyer for Quibi and/or the current shows in production. Previous attempts to sell didn't work out. According to Jeffrey Katzenberg and co-creator Meg Whitman, the idea wasn't solid enough or the launch came at the wrong time. It is going to take a couple of months before Quibi is completely gone.

Quibi was a special streaming service, that focused on short quality series for your smartphone. Various big names were involved with the streaming service. For example, Steven Spielberg, Steven Soderbergh, Guillermo del Toro, Sam Raimi and Antoine Fuqua were supposed to create material for Quibi. Last August, Qubi announced that they were going to create a series adaptation out of the comedy movie How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

This really comes as no surprise. Was doomed to fail in advance. The small group of people who only want to see 10 minutes of a series or film can do that themselves for a series of 45 minutes. Just pause or stop after 10 minutes. Netflix or Amazon will remember where you left off. So you don't need Quibi for that. Quibi's failure has nothing to do with bad timing. The whole idea is just nothing.

According to Jeffrey Katzenberg and co-founder Meg Whitman, either the idea was not strong enough or the launch was timed incorrectly. So the first. And immediately start with big names, so you immediately have to bring in a lot of money. Think Netflix, Amazon or Apple are interested in some productions, but then you might have 2 full episodes if you paste everything together.

Haha, we agree I see. Indeed it was just a bad idea. Has nothing to do with Corona. I thought it was already very strange that they could bring in more than a billion dollars for this. Those big names could be paid with that. Well I have to say that the fact that I don't like watching this kind of content on a phone doesn't mean that "the youth" doesn't agree either. But that target group has apparently ignored this too. Anyway, if you never try anything, you will never get anything done ;-)

I have a nephew and niece who should belong to Quibi's target group in terms of age, but they are only occupied with Tik Tok and Youtube on the phone. Think the founders have misunderstood the interests of the youth.

I then watched 50 states of fright from Quibi. 1 of the better horror series of our time. Each ep is idd around 7-8 minutes, but 1 story is spread over 2 to 3 eps. It looks nice and in 2 hours you have seen the whole series: P.

So that's just say 25 minutes for one story of a horror series. Which would normally be just 1 episode. Then may the series be of such good quality, so short and only viewable on your mobile? No thank you. Anyway, at the age of 44, I definitely do not belong to the target group.
