Netflix announces price increase for all subscriptions

Netflix immediately increases subscription prices in Belgium and the Netherlands.
How much more expensive the subscriptions become varies per subscription. The differences range from 1 to 3 euros per month. The streaming service is raising costs for the first time since 2021.

The streaming service's website shows that a basic subscription now costs 9 euros per month. That used to be 8 euros. A standard subscription, for two screens at the same time, will become 2 euros more expensive: from 12 to 14 euros.

You initially paid 16 euros for a premium subscription, which allows you to watch on four screens simultaneously. Now it will be 19 euros. Customers will soon be informed of the price increases by Netflix.

The Dutch price of Amazon Prime increased last October from 2.99 to 4.99 euros per month. Disney+ followed with a price increase, so that a subscription now costs 10.99 euros instead of 9.99 euros per month.

With the price increases, the streaming services hope to strengthen their results, because according to the companies behind the services, it is mainly about margins. For example, Netflix announced earlier this year that it would stop sharing total subscriber numbers in its quarterly reports. According to the company, these figures were "only part" of the total growth.

A price increase is also coming at HBO Max. The service previously announced that the price for a standard subscription will be increased from 7.99 to 9.99 euros from June. There is also a cheaper subscription with advertising and a more expensive premium subscription.

In many other countries, prices already rose at the end of last year.
