Videoland will increase the price of all available subscriptions as of Monday, August 26. This means that you will pay one euro more per month for the Basic, Plus and Premium subscription. A price increase of the same amount was also implemented in 2023. Only the price of the Basic subscription, where part of the company's revenue is generated by showing advertisements on the streaming service, remained unchanged. Now viewers with a basic subscription also have to believe the price increase.
Basic: from €4.99 to €5.99 per month (20% price increase)
Plus: from €9.99 to €10.99 per month (price increase of 11%)
Premium: from €11.99 to €12.99 per month (price increase of 8%)
New customers who purchased a subscription after July 18 were notified of the upcoming price change during the sign-up process. The new price will be paid by members from the first billing after Monday, August 26, 2024.
It is a shame that the prices of all subscriptions are being increased. Especially considering several streaming services are implementing price increases. However, Videoland apparently also offers (some of its customers) the option to continue paying the current price. A number of subscribers have received a promotional code in their email. By redeeming this code in the email, you will receive a €1 discount on your monthly amount. This means you will continue to pay the current price for another year. However, it is necessary to redeem the promotional code before Monday, August 26, 2024. The price increase will take effect after this date.
Videoland indicates that the price adjustment is necessary to offer even more exclusive series, films and documentaries from both Dutch and international sources every day. This includes the production of popular own titles such as the Dutch crime series Mocro Mafia and the summer episodes of B&B Vol Liefde, the beloved reality series Ex on the Beach: Double Dutch (see photo above) and the acquisition of sports rights such as Glory- kickboxing. The additional income from the price increase will therefore be used by RTL, the parent company of the streaming service, to realize this more extensive offering.
