Netflix announces new Dutch Original with Famke Janssen

Netflix is ​​launching a new Dutch Original series starring Famke Janssen: Amsterdam Empire. This was announced during Series Mania in France. The seven-part series was written by Nico Moolenaar, Piet Matthys and Bart Uytdenhouwen – known for Undercover and Ferry: De Serie.



Janssen (photo) is very enthusiastic about her new role: “I am really looking forward to returning to the Netherlands for my very first Dutch role! It is an honor to work with Nico Moolenaar and the rest of this talented team. I am grateful to work with Netflix again and be a part of this story set in the beautiful city of Amsterdam, the city where my heart lies.”

Jack van Doorn, the rich and infamous founder of the Jackal coffee shop empire, has had to fight criminals, competitors and absurd Dutch laws throughout his career to become the biggest of them all. When his affair with a famous journalist becomes public, it turns out that his most dangerous enemy has been living under his roof all along: his betrayed wife Betty, an ex-pop diva who knows all his weaknesses and secrets and will not rest until she has taken everything from him.

Amsterdam Empire is expected on Netflix in 2025.
