Produced by Oscar nominee Mike Lerner and ex-Channel 4 News boss Dorothy Byrne, the diptych will air on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 May. It has been picked up by HBO Max and ID in the US following a deal between Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and distributor All3Media International.
Channel 4 said Spacey Unmasked "explores Spacey's behavior and talks to multiple men unrelated to [last year's] case about their experiences with Kevin Spacey, almost all of whom have never spoken before."
The docuseries examines a man who was once one of the most admired and respected actors in the world. Featuring never-before-seen interviews and archival footage, Spacey Unmasked explores his life from childhood to his early success on Broadway and subsequent meteoric rise to stardom, before his downfall.
Last year, the House of Cards (2013) and American Beauty actor was found not guilty at London's Southwark Crown Court on nine charges, including sexual assault, allegedly committed between 2001 and 2013 and involving four men.
All3Media International controls the international rights for the series and has arranged multiple pre-sales, including with WBD for ID and HBO Max.
Other territories where the docuseries has been sold include HBO Max in Poland, FTA HBO Max in Spain, for FTA networks and Discovery+ in Italy and Germany, for HBO Max and Discovery+ in Latin America and for Three Now in New Zealand. In addition, PSBs including DR Denmark, YLE Finland, NRK Norway, SVT Sweden and VRT Belgium will premiere in their countries. RTL Netherlands and Nine Network Australia have the rights in their countries.
Spacey Unmasked is directed and produced by Katherine Haywood and executive produced by Byrne and Lerner. It is produced by Roast Beef Productions in association with All3 Media International.
