Marvel Studios greenlights Vision series starring Paul Bettany in the title role

Disney+ will resurrect Vision in a new series that will be released in 2026.
Paul Bettany will reprise his role as the Marvel character, who appeared in three Marvel films and Marvel's WandaVision. Terry Matalas, executive producer of Star Trek: Picard, has been named showrunner for the new series.

Details about the new series have not yet been revealed, but it was previously reported that the Marvel Vision series has been in development at Disney+ since 2022. At the time, we heard that the series would be about The Vision (Bettany, photo) trying to regain his memory and humanity. While the focus is on Vision, we also heard that Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) could make an appearance, which would make sense given how interconnected the two characters' stories are in the MCU.

After Vision was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, he returned twice in Marvel's 2021 WandaVision.

The new spin-off was unofficially dubbed the White Vision Project by some, after the most recent on-screen version of the character. Introduced at the end of episode eight of Marvel's WandaVision, White Vision was created by S.W.O.R.D. by rebuilding and reactivating Vision's body and was sent on a mission to destroy Wanda and her "Conditional" Vision.

The two Visions had an epic showdown in the final ninth episode of WandaVision. The "Conditional" Vision scanned the memories of the White Vision, which went through all the moments of the normal Vision in the MCU until its destruction by Thanos. In a moment of clarity, White Vision declared, "I Am Vision," dove into the sky and disappeared, setting up the possible spin-off.

Matalas created and served as showrunner/director for the critically acclaimed time travel series 12 Monkeys for Universal Cable Productions. Most recently, he served as showrunner/director for the third season of Star Trek: Picard.
